Fringe Benefits

Tom Pinder

Warm sheets and silent streets
and toast in bed, arise well fed
or slink deeper into slumber land,
just ten more minutes holding hands.

Cold toes and awkward timed advances
bed-hair, bad eyes and stealing glances;
fumbled fingers under covers
nervous, sheepish, unsure lovers

rest heads on pillows, legs entwined
and silken tress, as eyes undress
the room, remove the mess and stress,
falls across your face

caress your cheek, regain the beat
my heart skipped.
You brush the hair behind your ear
and leave the moment with me, here.
