I am Unimpressed.

I am unimpressed.
A birthday cake, a card – ‘blank for your own message’.
A column of stone,
sunken feet in suckling Earth
staring out to sea.

I’m… disappointed.
A rock to whet a knife.
Smog at the table in the evening.
Pale flowerbed,
clutching miserable air
scraped onto a fork

I’m unscathed. Scratches
on the bannister where
a flower-pressed mouse
lies flat
and more steps
push up
